Application Details

The scholarship is available exclusively to students of Lancaster Music Teachers Association members.

Complete eligibility requirements are listed below.

Scholarship Categories

Junior Division

Summer Music Camp Scholarship up to $1500

Individuals in grades 7-9

Senior Division

Summer Music Camp Scholarship up to $1500

Individuals in grades 10-12

Collegiate

College Scholarship up to $8,000

Individuals entering a collegiate program majoring OR minoring in music

Application Process

  1. Teachers invite their students to apply for the scholarship and register using the Wolf Music Scholarship Teacher Registration Form.

  2. Parents/Guardians register their children using the Wolf Music Scholarship Student Application Form.

  3. Applicants provide links to their repertoire video auditions, sheet music, and essay in the Wolf Music Scholarship Materials Submission Form, following all requirements listed in the Wolf Music Scholarship Materials Submission Procedure.

  4. Two letters of recommendation are submitted for each applicant in PDF format using the link below, as directed in the Wolf Music Scholarship Materials Submission Procedure.

Teacher Eligibility Requirements

  1. Teacher of applicant must be an active member of Lancaster Music Teachers Association.

  2. Read the Wolf Scholarship Information and Wolf Scholarship Materials Submission Procedure documents for complete scholarship details.

  3. Teachers must comply with one of the two Teacher Eligibility Categories in the membership year in which their student is applying.

  4. Submit the Wolf Music Scholarship Teacher Registration Form.

Student Eligibility Requirements

  1. Any piano, instrumental, or vocal student of an eligible Lancaster Music Teachers Association member may apply.

  2. Applicants are required to participate in at least one other LMTA performance event in the same school year that they apply.

  3. Applicants may reapply each year if they do not win.

  4. Participants may win once in each division.

  5. Applicants must submit digitally:

  • A completed Wolf Scholarship Music Application.

  • Two letters of recommendation from a teacher, community member, employer, or non-family member

  • Essay (see requirements below)

  • Performance videos (see requirements below)

  • Links to scanned PDF copies of their music.

Repertoire Video Audition Requirements

Applicants must perform two pieces of a contrasting nature from two separate musical eras. Performances must not exceed fifteen minutes.

· Performances given by piano and vocal applicants must be memorized.

· Simplifications or arrangements are NOT acceptable unless the original composer is the arranger.

· Students must submit links to scanned PDF copies of their music.

Essay Requirements

Applicants must choose one topic below and submit an essay of between 250 - 1000 words:

· “What does music mean to me?”

· “How will continued music study prepare me for my future”

· “How has music impacted my life?”

· “What will The Wolf Scholarship mean to me?”

Results and Awards

· Essays will be read by the Wolf Scholarship Committee. Repertoire Auditions will be adjudicated by master teachers outside of the LMTA membership.

· March 15, 2024: Winners will be notified via email.

· Sunday, May 5, 2024, 3:00 pm: The Wolf Scholarship Concert and Presentation of Awards. All winners are required to perform repertoire from their audition at this event to receive their award.
